KSRTC Employees Get ₹170 Crore Dues Cleared Ahead of Varamahalakshmi Festival

Bengaluru: The Karnataka government has released ₹170 crore towards pending salary dues of employees of the state’s four transport corporations, transport minister Bairathi Suresh said on Friday.

The announcement came after the minister held a meeting with representatives of more than 15 transport employees’ unions at the KSRTC headquarters in Bengaluru. Various demands of the employees were discussed during the meeting.

Following the 2025 pay revision, transport employees were due salary arrears amounting to ₹1,271 crore. The government had earlier released ₹450 crore, leaving ₹821 crore pending. Of this, another ₹170 crore has now been released.

Suresh said the remaining ₹651 crore would be released in phases.

The minister also announced that a free healthcare scheme would be introduced for transport employees. The scheme will cover employees of all four state-run transport corporations, he said.

The release of funds comes ahead of the Varamahalakshmi festival and is expected to provide relief to thousands of transport corporation employees awaiting payment of their salary arrears.
