BELAGAVI: Karnataka Industrial Security Force (KSISF) sub-inspector Jayashree has been suspended following an internal inquiry into her alleged links with a prisoner lodged at Belagavi’s Hindalga jail.
The suspension order was issued by Internal Security Division (ISD) Inspector General of Police K Thyagarajan. The action followed allegations that Jayashree had maintained unauthorised contact with undertrial prisoner and alleged rowdy-sheeter Saikumar alias Suresh, who is from Kunigal in Tumakuru district.
Videos and audio clips purportedly showing Jayashree communicating with the inmate through video calls had recently surfaced on social media, triggering widespread controversy.
Investigators also reportedly found chats suggesting that money had been transferred in instalments through the inmate’s bank account and his mother, while documents and messages allegedly indicated that a scooter and a Swift car linked to the inmate had been transferred in Jayashree’s name.
An audio recording allegedly involving Jayashree discussing an encounter against Saikumar also surfaced after the videos went viral. The authenticity and context of the recordings are subject to investigation.
Following directions from Home Minister Priyank Kharge, the department conducted an internal inquiry into the allegations. Officials said the preliminary findings pointed to prima facie lapses in duty, indiscipline and alleged misuse of official position.
Based on the inquiry, the department suspended Jayashree pending further proceedings.
The allegations are under investigation, and the claims made through the purported videos, chats and audio recordings have not been independently established.
