BENGALURU: The Karnataka High Court has granted divorce to Kannada actor Duniya Vijay and his wife Nagarathna, bringing an end to their long-running marital dispute.
A division bench comprising Justice D K Singh and Justice H Shanthibhushan directed Vijay to pay Rs 2 crore as alimony to Nagarathna. The court considered the future and maintenance needs of Nagarathna and the couple’s three children while determining the amount.
The bench also took into account Vijay’s social standing, professional career, income and overall financial position while fixing the alimony.
Vijay, who shot to fame with the Kannada film Duniya, had filed for divorce in 2013. He and Nagarathna had married in 1999.
The marital dispute had remained before the courts for more than a decade. With the latest High Court order, the legal proceedings over their marriage have now reached a conclusion.
The court’s order provides for financial support to Nagarathna while taking into consideration the welfare and future requirements of the couple’s children.
