Bengaluru: With the southwest monsoon gaining strength, several parts of Karnataka are likely to receive heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms on September 21 and 22, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Bengaluru.
For September 21, isolated heavy rain with thunderstorms is forecast in coastal districts Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada, with gusty winds reaching 40-50 kmph.
Heavy rain is also likely at isolated places in the North Interior Karnataka districts of Gadag, Haveri and Koppal. Moderate rain with thunderstorms may occur in parts of Bagalkote, Belagavi, Bidar, Dharwad, Kalaburagi, Raichur, Vijayapura and Yadgir.
Heavy rain likely on September 22
The coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada are expected to continue receiving isolated heavy rain on September 22.
Heavy rainfall is also forecast in Bagalkote, Bidar, Kalaburagi, Raichur and Vijayapura, while moderate rain is likely in Belagavi, Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri, Koppal and Yadgir.
In South Interior Karnataka, isolated heavy rain is likely in Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Chikkaballapura, Hassan, Kolar, Mysuru and Ramanagara districts.
Moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms may occur in parts of Ballari, Chamarajanagar, Chikkamagaluru, Chitradurga, Davanagere, Kodagu, Mandya, Shivamogga, Tumakuru and Vijayanagara.
The IMD forecast indicates that rainfall activity is likely to remain widespread across Karnataka as the monsoon becomes more active.
