Tunnel road won’t solve Bengaluru’s problems, says BJP MLC C.T. Ravi

Bengaluru: BJP MLC C.T. Ravi has opposed the Karnataka government’s proposed tunnel road project in Bengaluru, arguing that underground roads will not address the city’s core problems, particularly traffic congestion.

In a social media post, Ravi said the government should focus on strengthening Bengaluru’s public transport network instead of pushing ahead with a tunnel road project involving thousands of crores of rupees.

Ravi said expanding Namma Metro, suburban rail and BMTC services, along with improving existing roads, should be the priority to tackle Bengaluru’s traffic woes.

According to him, a stronger public transport system would encourage more commuters to shift away from private vehicles and help ease congestion across the city.

He accused the Congress government of failing to give adequate attention to public transport and road infrastructure while showing greater interest in expensive projects.

‘Kannadigas won’t allow misuse of tax money’

Ravi alleged that the tunnel road project could become a means of financial irregularities and commissions, and claimed that public money should not be spent on a project that does not address Bengaluru’s fundamental infrastructure challenges.

He said Kannadigas would oppose any attempt to use taxpayers’ money for what he described as a project driven by the “greed” of Congress leaders.

Ravi also urged Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar not to be adamant about the tunnel road project and instead focus on Bengaluru’s immediate concerns, including traffic management, public transport and road maintenance.
