New Delhi/Agartala, Aug 28 (IANS) Four young students from Tripura had a memorable opportunity to celebrate Raksha Bandhan with President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Friday.

A Tripura government official said in Agartala that during the interaction, the students tied rakhis on the President and conveyed their warm wishes to her on the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan.

The President also tied a rakhi on the hand of Meheresiya Sarkar, a young student, making the occasion particularly memorable and special for her.

The Tripura student team presented the President with a bamboo replica of the Mata Tripura Sundari Temple, handmade rakhis and greeting cards prepared by the students, a traditional Risha, and a pencil sketch of President Droupadi Murmu drawn by Pralay De, a CWSN student from Udaipur.

The President interacted warmly with the students and asked them about Tripura, its culture and traditions. She also encouraged the children to perform a song, which the students presented successfully.

The President appreciated the handmade rakhis and greeting cards prepared by the children and commended their efforts and creativity. As part of their visit, officials of Rashtrapati Bhavan took the students and accompanying teachers on a guided tour of the historic complex.

They visited the Banquet Hall, meeting halls and other important rooms, including the chambers associated with the swearing-in ceremonies of the Prime Minister and the Union Council of Ministers.

The visitors were also briefed about the history, architecture and heritage of Rashtrapati Bhavan and were taken around its gardens and other important sections of the sprawling complex. The interaction provided the young students with a unique opportunity to experience one of the country’s highest constitutional institutions and showcase the rich cultural heritage, traditions and artistic talent of Tripura.
