Tejashwi Yadav questions Bihar govt’s investment claims

Patna, Aug 14 (IANS) Bihar Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav has launched a sharp attack on the state government over its claims regarding proposed industrial investments in the state.

Reacting to the recent announcement of MoUs worth around Rs 51,600 crore signed between the Industries Department and various industrial groups, Yadav questioned why the government had not made public progress reports on investment agreements worth more than Rs 2 lakh crore signed in 2024, 2025 and earlier.

In a post on X, Yadav asked what had happened to those earlier MoUs and demanded that the government disclose their current status.

He also questioned the credibility of a company that, according to him, the state government has projected as the largest investor in the nuclear sector, with a proposed investment of Rs 22,500 crore. He alleged that the company was incorporated on February 25, 2026, and had a total capital of only Rs 11 lakh.

Using the figures to challenge the government’s investment claims, Yadav asked how a company with such limited capital could be expected to undertake an investment running into thousands of crores in the nuclear sector.

He demanded an explanation from the Samrat Chaudhary‑led government over how the proposal was presented without questions being raised about the company’s financial capacity.

Yadav further alleged that the government could potentially provide land, subsidies and other incentives to companies that lack adequate financial strength. He questioned whether Bihar’s resources could be handed over to such entities in the name of attracting investment.

The RJD leader said his party would welcome genuine industrial investment and that established companies setting up industries in Bihar should receive all necessary government support. However, he warned against what he described as the creation of paper companies for obtaining government land, assets or subsidies.

Yadav also criticised the NDA Government over its long tenure in Bihar, arguing that it had failed to create an investment environment capable of attracting major industries. He questioned the state’s infrastructure and investor confidence and accused the government of relying on publicity rather than improving conditions on the ground.

The allegations have added a political dimension to Bihar’s renewed push to attract large‑scale private investment, with the opposition demanding greater transparency over the implementation and financial credibility of announced projects.
