Hyderabad, June 12 (IANS) Congress’s Telangana MP Gaddam Vamsi Krishna has questioned the silence of the leaders of ruling NDA in Andhra Pradesh over the killing of a marine engineer from Visakhapatnam in the US attack on a vessel off the coast of Oman.
Krishna asked Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Jana Sena Party President Pawan Kalyan and state minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) national Working President Nara Lokesh if they are supporting the Central government just to protect their positions.
The MP from Peddapalli took to X to slam the ruling coalition leaders over their silence.
“Lokesh garu, Pawan Kalyan garu… are you supporting the central government just to protect your positions? That may be your personal choice. But to completely forget moral values is that justifiable?” he asked.
The Congress MP stated that during the American attack, Indian sailors serving the nation lost their lives, including Patnala Suresh from Visakhapatnam, yet there was no word spoken in their honour.
“At the same time, some were in Delhi discussing PM Modi’s fitness and skincare secrets, we leave that judgment to the public. In the past, during Operation Sindoor, we praised PM Modi for his leadership. But immediately afterward, the Red Fort attack occurred. Now, even after the American strike, no one is speaking out, how can this silence be justified?” he asked.
Chief Engineer Suresh was one of the three Indian seafarers killed in the US attack on the vessel on Wednesday.
The Palau-flagged oil tanker MT Settebello was attacked off the coast of Oman, near the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.
All three Indian sailors who were initially reported missing following the incident have been confirmed dead.
Deck cadet Aditya Sharma and engine fitter Shivanand Chaurasiya are the other two Indians killed in the attack, which was carried out by the US military after the vessel allegedly attempted to violate a blockade imposed by the US.
The tragedy has left Suresh’s family here in deep shock. He is survived by his wife and two sons, aged 13 and 10.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan or any other minister from Andhra Pradesh are yet to react to the killing of the marine engineer from the state.
