BJP to launch month-long ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ and Vadnagar-Varanasi Yatra on PM Modi’s birthday

New Delhi, Sep 1 (IANS) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will launch a major one-month outreach programme, the “Seva Sankalp Abhiyan”, on September 17 to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday.

The campaign will run from September 17 to October 17 and coincides with 25 years of the Prime Minister’s public life.

A key highlight of the programme is the “Vadnagar to Varanasi Yatra” (also described as Janmabhoomi to Karmabhoomi Yatra).

Teams will depart simultaneously from Vadnagar, the Prime Minister’s birthplace in Gujarat, and Varanasi (Kashi), associated with his political and public work.

Ten teams from each city will set out on the same day.

The Varanasi teams will complete the journey and reach Vadnagar in one month, while the Vadnagar teams will arrive in Varanasi within the same period.

Each team will travel around 100 kilometres per day and will consist of more than 10 bikers, buses and BJP karyakartas carrying the message of the party’s governments at the Centre and in the states.

After covering the daily distance, the teams will halt and participate in four pre-specified programmes highlighting the achievements of the Narendra Modi-led Central government and respective state governments.

In addition to the Vadnagar-Varanasi Yatra, the BJP has planned a big East-to-West Connect Yatra along with similar outreach efforts in the north-south directions.

The overall campaign will include programmes to honour Anganwadi workers, health and sanitation drives, and special camps to reach beneficiaries of various government schemes.

Special emphasis will be placed on connecting with the youth and spreading the message of service and public welfare.

Party sources said the initiative is designed to link the Prime Minister’s birthday with organised acts of service rather than conventional celebrations.

Large numbers of BJP workers and volunteers are expected to participate across the country, interacting with citizens and highlighting welfare schemes of the Central and state governments.

Detailed schedules for the departure of the teams and the itinerary of the four daily programmes at each halt are being finalised.

The BJP views the month-long outreach as a major effort to reinforce its connect with the people through service-oriented activities.
