Dehradun, Sep 10 (IANS) BJP National President Nitin Nabin will interact with the youth — Gen Z — through the ‘Yuva Samvad’ programme in Haldwani, Uttarakhand, on Thursday as the party steps up its preparations for the 2027 Assembly elections in the state.
Nabin is scheduled to address Gen-Z at 10 a.m. during the youth interaction programme. Later, at 11 a.m., he will address the ‘Ex-Servicemen Sammelan’ at Vatika Banquet Hall on Nainital Road.
At 3 p.m., the BJP national president will travel to Rudrapur, where he will participate in the ‘Sikh Gaurav Sammelan’ or Sikh Pride Conference, as part of the party’s outreach to different sections of society ahead of the elections.
A total of 597 delegates from across Uttarakhand, including Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, state BJP president Mahendra Bhatt and former Chief Ministers, will participate in the party’s state executive committee meeting.
The BJP is preparing for the 2027 Uttarakhand Assembly elections with the stated objective of securing a hat-trick in the state.
Nabin had addressed the Extended State Executive Committee Meeting in Haldwani on Wednesday, where he said the party was drawing inspiration from the energy of Devbhoomi and remained committed to development and the principle of putting the nation first.
During his address, Nabin highlighted several issues that the BJP has identified as key areas of its governance and political agenda, including improved road connectivity, respect and welfare of soldiers, implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), women’s empowerment and welfare measures for the poor under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“The air, soil, and mountains of Devbhoomi clearly convey why this land is called Devbhoomi. The strength and energy that this land provides are not limited to the nation; even Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji draws his true strength from here,” Nabin said.
He asserted that the BJP’s political and organisational approach is guided by the principle of ‘Nation First’, which, according to him, is reflected in the party’s functioning and decision-making.
“For the BJP, ‘Nation First’, ‘Party Next’, and ‘Self Last’ is the guiding principle, and the party works accordingly,” Nabin said.
The BJP national president also launched a strong attack on the Congress, accusing the Opposition party of pursuing appeasement and divisive politics.
He further alleged that Congress had insulted Dalits and criticised the party’s approach towards the national song ‘Vande Mataram’, describing it as a symbol of national unity and the vision of a Viksit Bharat.
Targeting the Opposition over what he described as “appeasement politics”, Nabin criticised Congress leaders over their position on ‘Vande Mataram’ and directly attacked senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
“There are also political parties and their leaders in this country who feel embarrassed even to say ‘Vande Mataram’… Rahul Gandhi cannot understand the significance of ‘Vande Mataram’ because he has not understood the importance of Indian culture itself. Rahul Gandhi has been brought up in a foreign cultural environment,” he said.
Nabin further said that ‘Vande Mataram’ had historically inspired freedom fighters and continues to represent the country’s aspirations. He alleged that the Congress’ approach towards the song was contrary to the sentiments associated with India’s freedom struggle.
“The very ‘Vande Mataram’ whose complete rendition makes Sonia Gandhi and the Congress Party feel insulted. Such a Congress must be brought to an end,” Nabin said.
He added that the significance of ‘Vande Mataram’ extended beyond its association with the freedom movement and linked it to the BJP’s vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047.
He contrasted the Congress’ approach with the BJP-led government’s stated focus on welfare of the poor and equitable access to national resources.
“The politics of appeasement has always remained dominant in the Congress mindset. Those who practise politics on the basis of society and religion are the first to come forward in this regard. It was their government when the Prime Minister of the country had stated that the minorities had the first right over the resources of the country,” he said.
In contrast, Nabin said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government had placed the poor at the centre of its development and welfare policies.
“This is the difference in the thinking of our governments and our leadership,” he added.
The BJP leader also alleged that those who had worked to change the demographic character of the country and Uttarakhand could not genuinely claim to have concern for the nation and its people.
“Those who have worked to alter the demography of this country and this state cannot truly love the soil of this nation,” Nabin said.
