Patna, May 12 (IANS) A day after launching the “Sahyog” portal and helpline number ‘1100’, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government on Tuesday inaugurated a public hearing programme at the office of Janata Dal-United (JD-U).
Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary, along with Minister Sheela Kumari Mandal, personally heard grievances from citizens during the programme.
Vijay Choudhary said that while public hearings have been conducted in the past, the initiative will now be implemented in a more structured and continuous manner.
“Ministers will be deputed at the JD-U office every day, allowing citizens to directly present their issues,” he added, assuring that prompt action would be taken on complaints.
The Samrat Choudhary-led Bihar government has made significant claims about the newly launched grievance redressal system.
Through the “Sahyog” portal and helpline ‘1100’, citizens can now lodge complaints from their homes without needing to visit government offices.
Officials emphasised that resolving complaints within 30 days will be mandatory.
Failure to do so will trigger disciplinary proceedings against the concerned officials starting from the 31st day, including the possibility of automatic suspension.
The helpline service will function daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
During the event, Vijay Choudhary also expressed support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal to reduce gold purchases and conserve fuel.
He described it as a suggestion linked to global economic conditions, saying that public cooperation could help conserve India’s foreign exchange reserves.
Taking a jibe at the Congress, the Deputy Chief Minister alleged that the Opposition shows little interest in resolving public issues.
Addressing a separate incident involving the recovery of liquor bottles at the Vikas Bhawan, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary reiterated that Bihar’s prohibition law remains strictly enforced.
He warned that stringent action would be taken against anyone found violating the law and directed officials to ensure full compliance.
A liquor bottle was found in the Vikas Bhavan on Monday, which led to criticism of the Samrat Choudhary-led Bihar government.
The sale, production, transportation and consumption of liquor have been completely banned in Bihar since April 2016.
