Lakhisarai: At least seven devotees were killed and several others injured in a stampede at the famous Ashokdham Temple in Bihar’s Lakhisarai district on Monday morning.
The incident occurred as a large number of devotees gathered at the temple on the third Monday of Shravan. According to preliminary reports, an electric wire fell around 6.45 am, triggering panic among the crowd. As devotees rushed to safety, a stampede broke out.

Eyewitnesses said around 100 devotees attempted to cross a barricade near the temple entrance when the structure reportedly collapsed. Several people fell on the narrow slope as the crowd pushed forward, resulting in the stampede.
Following the incident, administrative officials and rescue teams reached the temple and brought the situation under control.
Officials suspect that the combination of a large crowd and panic following the falling power line may have triggered the stampede. An investigation is underway to establish the exact circumstances that led to the tragedy.
