Agartala, July 8 (IANS) Focusing on investment, industrial growth and enhanced connectivity to further Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Act East Vision, the two-day Destination Tripura Business Conclave-2026 will begin on July 9, officials said on Wednesday.
Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) and Communications, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha, and several other dignitaries will participate in the mega business conclave to be held at the Hapania International Fair Ground on the outskirts of Agartala. Both the DoNER minister and the chief minister will address industry leaders, investors, entrepreneurs and policymakers attending the conclave from across the country.
According to officials, the objective of the Tripura Business Conclave-2026 is to accelerate industrial investment in the state, promote trade and entrepreneurship, and connect local industries with national and global markets.
On the occasion, Scindia is expected to outline the Central government’s priorities and future roadmap for strengthening investment, connectivity, logistics and industrial development, while highlighting measures to unlock the immense economic potential of the Northeastern region. Scindia’s visit is being viewed as a significant step towards advancing the PM’s Act East Vision and the Centre’s commitment to building a Viksit North East.
An official statement said the Central government remains committed to transforming the Northeast into a strong growth engine of India’s development journey by continuously strengthening infrastructure, communication connectivity, industry, tourism and investment across the region.
Officials recalled that the Rising Northeast Investors Summit 2025, held in New Delhi in May this year, attracted investment proposals worth nearly Rs 4.5 lakh crore for the Northeastern region. Of the total investment proposals received during the summit, projects worth around Rs 23,867 crore were proposed for Tripura alone.
The summit also witnessed the signing of several significant Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) to accelerate the holistic development of the Northeast, many of which have now entered the implementation stage.
The Tripura Business Conclave-2026 marks the next major step in advancing this process, to expedite the implementation of investment proposals, attract fresh investments, and give new momentum to industrial development, infrastructure expansion, and employment generation in the state.
Meanwhile, Saha had earlier said that the state government aims to attract investment proposals worth nearly Rs 1 lakh crore across key sectors through the conclave. Ahead of the flagship event, the chief minister chaired a high-level review meeting at the Hapania International Fair Ground auditorium and directed officials to ensure the successful conduct of the conclave, which is being organised on such a large scale for the first time in the state.
Addressing the meeting, Saha stressed the importance of attracting both domestic and foreign investments to generate employment opportunities, enhance per capita income and strengthen Tripura’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP).
The chief minister also highlighted that MoUs worth nearly Rs 30,000 crore were signed during last year’s business conclave, of which projects valued at around Rs 8,000 crore have already entered the implementation stage.
He expressed confidence that the upcoming conclave would build on those achievements by facilitating new partnerships, encouraging greater participation from industry leaders and positioning Tripura as an emerging investment destination in the Northeast, supported by improved infrastructure, policy reforms and strategic connectivity with neighbouring countries under the Centre’s Act East policy.
