Theft of cash, valuables at Tej Pratap Yadav’s official residence in Patna; complaint lodged

Patna, June 23 (IANS) A case involving the alleged theft of cash, jewellery, and electronic devices from the official residence of former Bihar minister and JJD chief Tej Pratap Yadav has come to light in Patna, drawing attention in both political and administrative circles.

According to the complaint, the alleged theft took place at Tej Pratap Yadav’s official residence located on Harding Road in the state capital.

Tej Pratap Yadav has lodged a complaint with the Secretariat police station and has made allegations against his former associate Motilal Rai in connection with the incident.

Police have initiated an investigation following the complaint.

According to the complaint, approximately Rs 20 lakh in cash, which was allegedly kept in a cupboard for party-related purposes, was found missing on June 22.

A subsequent examination of the residence revealed the disappearance of several valuable items, including cash amounting to Rs 20 lakh, a gold chain weighing around two tolas, a gold ring, four pen drives, two hard disks, an iPad, a MacBook laptop, a Lenovo laptop, and four iPhone Pro Max mobile phones.

The total value of the missing items is stated to be several lakhs of rupees.

Following the complaint, police officials from the Secretariat police station visited the residence and inspected the premises.

Secretariat range DSP Dr. Anu stated, “A complaint regarding the theft has been received. The police are investigating the matter seriously. Further action will be taken after considering all the facts. The situation will become clear only after the investigation is complete.”

Investigators are examining available evidence and assessing various aspects of the case.

This is not the first theft case linked to Tej Pratap Yadav’s official residence.

In 2022, another incident involving the alleged theft of cash and other items was reported from the same residence.

At that time, Tej Pratap Yadav had accused an individual named Chandan, who was associated with the upkeep of the house.

The latest incident has once again raised questions regarding security arrangements at official residences and the access granted to individuals working at or visiting such premises.

The case has also generated political interest because of the high-profile nature of the residence and the allegations involving a close associate of the former minister.

As the investigation progresses, police are expected to verify the claims, examine evidence, and determine whether criminal action is warranted against any individuals involved.
