Sanjay Raut targets Maha govt over poor state of Mumbai’s infrastructure during monsoon

Mumbai, July 6 (IANS) Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and MP, Sanjay Raut, on Monday launched a blistering attack on the Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis-led Mahayuti government, questioning the state of Mumbai’s infrastructure during the monsoon.

“The Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister should wear raincoats and tour the city to see the true state of India’s financial capital. They beat the drums of development, but if the people of this state want to see the extreme level of brokerage and commissions under the guise of development, they should visit the Missing Link,” Raut said.

“The Chief Minister claims only two potholes have formed on the Mumbai Pune Missing Link. He should go and see today—the Missing Link hasn’t just got potholes, it has collapsed! This is the result of pure corruption and commission-seeking. They think nobody can touch them because they have a massive majority. They have already pocketed 30-35 per cent advance commissions from contractors,” Raut claimed.

In a highly sarcastic jibe, Raut added that Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde had fallen ill and was admitted to Jupiter Hospital due to “an indigestion of development.”

Raut also attacked the BJP leadership over local tragedies and alleged corruption in religious projects.

“Six people died yesterday. The Mumbai BJP ex-mayor spends her day roaming around clicking photos. While people were grieving, she was busy attending a builder’s baby shower celebration. Meanwhile, the Mumbai BJP President is laughing mockingly. A ‘Duryodhana-style’ rule has been established in Maharashtra by Devendra Fadnavis and the Shinde faction,” he claimed.

“History states that Mughals looted Hindu temples. The BJP won votes by claiming to be the protectors of temples. But today, the thieves looting the Ram Temple, Kedarnath, and Badrinath belong to the BJP,” Raut charged.

Responding to BJP’s allegations regarding the 25-year rule of the Thackeray-MNS combine in the BMC, Raut turned the tables on the BJP.

“The BMC has been under the direct control of the BJP (via the state-appointed administrator) for the last four-and-a-half years. What have you done in these years? The Mithi river clean-up is a massive ongoing scam, and its beneficiaries are the contractors who fund the BJP, including big projects handed over to select industrialists,” he alleged.

“Forget the 25 years, speak about your last four-and-a-half years! They complain about Congress’ 70-year rule, but you have been in power for 12 years now. Twelve years is a long time; even four days are enough to show results. What have you been doing for four-and-a-half years? You have completely plundered the municipal corporation and handed it over to a contractor raj,” Raut concluded, while also alleging a multi-crore scam in the construction of the Statue of Unity in Gujarat.
