New Delhi, April 1 (IANS) In a major enforcement drive, the Delhi Police Central District carried out a 48-hour intensive crackdown under ‘Operation Kavach 13.0,’ resulting in 452 arrests, 1,930 detentions, and 283 raids across the district.
The operation, conducted from March 29 (6:00 PM) to March 31 (6:00 PM), was launched in strict compliance with directions from the Police Headquarters (PHQ). It targeted narcotics traffickers, illicit liquor suppliers, illegal arms carriers, gamblers, and other anti-social elements, delivering a decisive blow to organised crime networks.
Supervised by Deputy Commissioner of Police Rohit Rajbir Singh, the operation involved all 15 police stations in the Central District, along with one Cyber Police Station and specialised units such as the Special Staff, Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC), Anti-Auto Theft Squad (AATS), and Technical Surveillance Units.
A total of 110 dedicated teams were deployed, carrying out Intelligence-based raids at identified hotspots, including slum clusters, industrial zones, liquor supply routes, and other vulnerable areas. The coordinated effort ensured swift action with zero response time and maximum field presence.
Key operational features included round-the-clock naka checking, mobile patrolling, real-time coordination between Station House Officers (SHOs) and specialised units, and the integration of cyber and ground Intelligence. Authorities also maintained continuous surveillance on repeat and high-risk offenders.
Under the NDPS Act, 37 cases were registered and 59 individuals apprehended. Police seized 14.62 kg of ganja, 0.306 kg of heroin, 0.633 kg of smack, along with 23 panni pipes and Rs 5,260 in cash. Under the Delhi Excise Act, 13 cases were registered, leading to the arrest of 14 individuals and the seizure of 996 quarters of illicit liquor.
In cases under the Arms Act, 12 individuals were apprehended, and weapons including 10 knives, two pistols, and three live cartridges were recovered. Additionally, 23 gambling cases led to the arrest of 41 individuals, with Rs 34,210 in cash seized.
Police also apprehended four auto-lifting accused and recovered five stolen vehicles. Four proclaimed offenders were arrested, while around 200 individuals were booked under preventive sections of the law.
As part of preventive and enforcement measures, 118 arrests were made under Sections 126 and 170 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNSS). A total of 178 vehicles were seized under the Delhi Police Act, and nearly 1,980 individuals were detained under preventive provisions. Authorities also conducted verification of 339 bad characters (BCs), arrested two habitual offenders, and issued 469 challans under the COTPA Act.
Overall, the district police conducted 283 raids and demonstrated high operational preparedness through coordinated and Intelligence-led action. Officials said the drive significantly enhanced police visibility, disrupted illegal supply chains, strengthened crime control, and improved public safety.
The police stated that such sustained operations would continue to ensure strict enforcement and act as a strong deterrent against criminal activities in the national Capital.
