New Delhi, Oct 4 (IANS) Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor said on Sunday that it is extremely unfortunate that a handful of people associated with the Communist ideology are bent upon vitiating the national capital’s political atmosphere and disrupting law and order.
Kapoor, in a statement, said that the faces seen hovering around Jantar Mantar two or three times a day on Sunday are the same as the once seen during the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) movement in July.
He said that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and its Communist allies are failing to even mobilise 50 people from Delhi.
“Even among those who turn up, videos seen on Saturday revealed that either one or two buses are being brought in daily from Punjab, or students from JNU associated with Communist ideology are participating and raising objectionable and uncivilised anti-government slogans.”
The Delhi BJP spokesperson said that posting a video of AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj being removed from the protest site on social media platform X is laughable.
“It is regrettable that AAP leaders, rejected by the people of Delhi, are today protesting in the name of the right to vote alongside the very Congress party that imposed Emergency and snatched fundamental rights of people.”
“Do the AAP and Communist leaders expect the police to allow them to act arbitrarily and disrupt law and order in Delhi,” Kapoor asked.
Earlier, Delhi BJP President Harsh Malhotra said that opposition parties such as the Congress, Communist parties and the Aam Aadmi Party, which have been rejected by the people of the country, are staging hollow protests against the Chief Election Commissioner.
“Through these, they (opposition parties) are vitiating the country’s political atmosphere and putting undue pressure on the police and administration, while also damaging the business season that began across the country, including Delhi and Mumbai, from October 1,” he added.
The Delhi BJP President said that with the Assembly elections scheduled to be held in early 2027, the Aam Aadmi Party is already facing the prospect of losing power in Punjab, while the Congress is facing the prospect of a major defeat in Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa and Punjab.
“In such a situation, not only these two parties, but also the defeated and frustrated Communist, Samajwadi Party, Rashtriya Janata Dal and Trinamool Congress led by Mamata Banerjee have come together and are now attempting to derail the country’s economy during the festive season,” Malhotra added.
The Delhi BJP President said that because of the protests by these opposition parties, the entire month of July was adversely affected from the perspective of business in Delhi.
“Now, with the renewed Opposition protests threatening to disrupt the upcoming three-month business season, Delhi’s trader organisations are concerned. Several organisations have contacted us (BJP) and condemned these (Opposition parties’) protests, which are being organised out of fear of political defeat.”
