Bengaluru: AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge congratulated veteran Kannada actor Anant Nag on being selected for the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award 2024.
Kharge said the selection of Anant Nag for one of the highest honours in Indian cinema was a matter of pride and happiness for the film fraternity and people across the country.
He said Anant Nag had left an indelible mark on Indian cinema through his decades-long artistic career, versatile performances, distinctive personality and deep passion for the craft. He also noted that the veteran actor had earned a special place in the hearts of Kannadigas.
“Anant Nag has showcased his talent not only in Kannada but also in films across various Indian languages, winning audiences with his portrayal of diverse characters,” Kharge said.
Praising Nag’s natural acting, command over dialogue and understanding of characters, Kharge said his simplicity and humility had further distinguished him as an artist.
Kharge said art was not merely a means of entertainment but also a powerful medium reflecting society’s emotions, culture, human values and different dimensions of life. In this regard, he described Anant Nag’s contribution as memorable.
He said the actor’s achievements, dedication and commitment to the arts would continue to inspire young and upcoming generations of artistes.
The Dadasaheb Phalke Award, Kharge said, was a recognition of Nag’s decades-long contribution to cinema and had added further lustre to Karnataka’s rich cultural legacy.
Kharge also wished Anant Nag good health, happiness, peace and longevity, and expressed hope that the veteran actor’s experience and guidance would continue to benefit future generations of artistes.
