Chandigarh: The Indian Air Force International Squash Championship 2026 got underway at the Base Repair Depot, Air Force Station Chandigarh, bringing together leading squash players from India and abroad.
The prestigious tournament was inaugurated in the presence of Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, Chief of the Air Staff, who attended the opening ceremony as chief guest.
Welcoming the participating players, Air Chief Marshal AP Singh highlighted the role of international sporting events in promoting camaraderie, mutual respect and friendship among nations.
The Chief of the Air Staff also took part in a friendly squash match with Air Marshal M Baladitya (Retd) and Captain Dan Peskett of the United Kingdom, adding to the spirit of the championship.
The tournament will continue until September 4, 2026, with six teams participating in the championship. The line-up includes international teams from the United Kingdom and Sri Lanka, along with veterans.
The championship features both team events and an open singles category, providing a platform for elite national and international squash players to compete.
The event is expected to showcase high-quality squash while strengthening sporting ties and fostering greater interaction between participants from different countries.
