Bhojpur, July 3 (IANS) After Union Minister Chirag Paswan on Friday met the family members of student and local activist Bharat Tiwari, who was killed in police action, the latter’s family members said that the LJP (Ram Vilas) chief has assured them that the perpetrators will be punished at the earliest and that the “world will be a witness to the justice”.
Following his meeting with the family earlier in the day, Paswan condemned the circumstances surrounding his death, saying the role of administrative officers in the incident was completely unacceptable in a civilised society.
Reacting to the Union Minister’s visit, Bharat Tiwari’s father, Kashinath Tiwari, said: “I spoke to him (Paswan). The conversation went very well. He has assured that within two to three days, all the killers who have committed the crime will be punished.”
“He has said that proceedings will be fast-paced and that the world will be a witness to the justice,” he added.
Brother of Bharat Tiwari, Chandan Tiwari echoed: “He (Paswan) has assured that quick action will be taken in the matter. The accused will be arrested at the earliest. He has also said that justice will be ensured and that no culprit will be spared.”
Chandan Tiwari said the video where “my brother was thrown inside Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH)” was shown to the Union Minister.
Talking to IANS, he further said that Chirag Paswan “was kept in the dark” about the shots fired at his brother.
“According to him, Bharat was shot thrice, but we told him the truth that he (Bharat) was shot five times,” he said.
Bharat’s mother, Asha Devi, also said that the LJP (Ram Vilas) chief has assured the family that whoever is responsible will definitely be punished at the earliest.
“He said he will speak to the (Bihar) Chief Minister and ensure that justice and punishment are delivered in this matter,” she told IANS.
Earlier, Chirag Paswan said: “The way Bharat Tiwari was killed by some administrative officers is completely unacceptable in any civilised society or internal system. Those who are responsible for maintaining law and order, if they themselves take the law into their hands, then the people of Bihar will lose faith in the justice system.”
“It is important that strict action is taken and the strictest punishment is given to those officers who, for their own vested interests, were involved in the killing of Bharat Tiwari,” he told reporters.
