Gandhinagar, May 17 (IANS) Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Sunday formally launched the self-enumeration process for ‘Census 2027’ by completing his family’s details online and appealed to citizens to actively participate in the first digital self-census exercise introduced in the country.
The self-enumeration process has begun across Gujarat from May 17 and will continue till May 31, during which residents can independently submit their details online through the census web portal and mobile-based platform.
After completing his own self-enumeration on the official census platform, Patel urged people across the state to participate in the national exercise and provide accurate information within the stipulated period.
He said citizens should “actively participate in this nationally important exercise and contribute towards building a strong, inclusive and developed India”.
According to the state government, Census-2027 is being conducted completely in digital mode for the first time, with citizens able to submit their details through both the online portal and mobile devices.
Officials said the newly introduced self-enumeration system has been designed to provide a simple, secure and convenient digital platform through which residents can upload their information from anywhere.
Citizens can complete the process through the official portal, where guidance and instructions related to self-enumeration have also been made available.
Authorities have appealed to residents to complete the process within the designated 15-day period and ensure the timely and accurate submission of information.
Officials said the self-enumeration method is being introduced in Census 2027.
In Gujarat, residents will be able to provide their details online before the next phase of census operations begins.
Thereafter, House Listing Operations (HLO) will be carried out across the state from June 1 to 30 by more than one lakh census workers as part of the nationwide census exercise.
During the launch event, State Census Operations Director Sujal Mayatra presented a memento to the chief minister and briefed him about the census-related activities and preparations being undertaken in the state.
