Guwahati, Sep 8 (IANS) Congress MP and Deputy Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Gaurav Gogoi, on Tuesday expressed grief over the death of Manipuri musician Chongtham Vikram Singh, who was allegedly beaten to death after objecting to noise outside his residence in South Delhi.
Gogoi took to X to pay tribute to Singh and demanded justice for the musician, while saying that the entire Northeast stood with his family.
Sharing a tribute to Singh, Gogoi wrote: “He (Chongtham Vikram Singh) was a humble soul with no ego, no animosity, just a peaceful soul who loved music. He was one of those rare people who would do it all, yet receive acknowledgement from almost no one.”
“Rest in peace. May you get justice. The entire northeast prays for your family,” Gogoi added.
Singh, a musician from Manipur, was allegedly assaulted following an altercation over noise outside his South Delhi home. He later succumbed to his injuries.
Gogoi’s post came amid growing concern over the circumstances surrounding Singh’s death and has drawn attention to the safety of people from the Northeast living in the national Capital.
The Congress leader’s remarks highlighted Singh’s personality and his contribution to music, describing him as a peaceful person who avoided animosity and lived for his art.
