DUSU polls: ABVP, NSUI accuse each other of violence & vandalism

The NSUI alleged that the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) was “rattled by the support it has been receiving ahead of the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) elections” in Delhi University.

Responding to the allegations, the ABVP said “the NSUI was indulging in vandalism and violence”, while claiming that the vehicle of its presidential nominee Tushar Dedha was attacked.

On Wednesday, the Delhi in-charge of NSUI, Nitish Gaur, said that there have been continuous attacks on the President, Vice President, Secretary and Joint Secretary candidates from NSUI.

“However, the police are instead detaining NSUI officials. Recently, the car of NSUI President, Vice President, Secretary and candidate for the post of Joint Secretary was vandalised and two workers were fatally attacked,” he said.

“The car of the candidate for the post of Vice President was vandalised in Ramjas College while that of the candidate for the post of Joint Secretary was vandalised outside Hansraj College… also, the candidate for the post of Secretary was attacked in Kirori Mal College,” he further said.

Similar allegations were also made by the ABVP on Wednesday.

It said that “students from the opposition camp and anti-social elements are roaming everywhere in the campus with sticks”.

The ABVP said that due to this, an atmosphere of anarchy and fear was being created.
