New Delhi, Sep 22 (IANS) A 19-year-old youth was killed while another person was injured after a DTC bus allegedly collided with a TVS Scooty on Najafgarh-Nangloi road in front of Rathi Hospital in the capital on Monday, police said.
According to Delhi Police, the accident took place at around 4.15 p.m. when DTC bus number DL1PD-6065, operating on Route No. 940, and a TVS Scooty were found involved in a collision near Rathi Hospital.
Police officials further said that an unidentified male, aged around 19-20 years, was found lying unconscious near the DTC bus. He had suffered severe head injuries and was bleeding profusely. The injured youth was immediately shifted to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in Mangol Puri, where doctors declared him brought dead.
The deceased was subsequently identified as Himanshu, 19, a resident of Bahadurgarh in Haryana. His father, Dharmender, identified the body at the hospital.
Police said another person, identified as Monu Kumar, 24, was found admitted to Rathi Hospital. His Medico-Legal Case (MLC) report stated that he had sustained injuries in a road accident while riding the scooty, after it was hit by the DTC bus. Monu was declared unfit to give a statement.
The DTC bus driver, Amit Dahiya, 33, was found at the spot following the accident and was taken to the police station for questioning. He was subsequently arrested in connection with the case. A police crime team inspected the accident spot and collected relevant exhibits, which were taken into possession for investigation.
A case under Sections 281, 125(a) and 106 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been registered against the accused driver.
The body of Himanshu has been preserved at the hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination. Police said further investigation is underway to establish the exact sequence of events leading to the fatal collision.
