Datia, July 25 (IANS) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Saturday said the July 30 Datia Assembly bypoll is a fight between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s development agenda and the Congress’ “politics of lies and misinformation”.
Campaigning for BJP candidate Ashutosh Tiwari at public meetings in Udgua and Uparayn under Datia Assembly constituency, Yadav said the bypoll was not just about electing an MLA but about taking forward the development of the constituency.
“The Datia bypoll is a fight between the BJP government’s development and the Congress’ politics of lies and confusion. This election is about giving a new pace to Datia’s development,” Yadav said while addressing the rally.
Targeting the Congress, the Chief Minister said the opposition had stalled development during its rule and accused it of misleading people. He remarked that the Congress is disappearing from the country and urged the people of Datia to ensure it disappears from the constituency by voting for the BJP.
He said the BJP governments at the Centre and in Madhya Pradesh were working for the welfare of farmers, women, youth and the poor through various schemes and development projects.
Referring to the Ken-Betwa river-linking project, Yadav said it would help solve water scarcity in the Bundelkhand region and improve irrigation and agriculture. He also promised better electricity, irrigation and infrastructure in Datia.
The Chief Minister said the state government had strengthened roads, power supply and healthcare, besides providing benefits under schemes such as Ayushman Bharat, PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi and Ladli Behna Yojana.
The Datia Assembly seat fell vacant following the disqualification of former Congress MLA Rajendra Bharti after his conviction in an alleged corruption case.
Polling for the by-election will be held on July 30, while counting of votes is scheduled for August 3. The BJP has fielded Ashutosh Tiwari, while the Congress has nominated two-time former MLA Ghanshyam Singh.
