"Nobody will be as open as he was was when it came to speaking his mind. That was why he was close to everybody including former Chief Ministers MGR, Dr Kalignar, and Nadigar Thilagam Sivaji Ganesan. Pointing out that Bharthiraja's demise was not sudden, Rajinikanth said he had wanted to meet the director when he was alive but that he had been told that he could meet him once the director became well.

"But then, I couldn't meet him at all. He will continue to remain in my thoughts always and with me. May his soul rest in peace. My deepest condolences to his family members," Rajinikanth said.

Twinkle Khanna believes ‘babies should come with an instruction manual’

Mumbai, June 10 (IANS) Author and chat show host Twinkle Khanna has shared a very unique perspective on parenting through her latest social media post.

The 'Mela' actress believes the babies should come with an instruction manual, which parents can access via a QR code.

Twinkle pointed out that right now, we are all going with the flow, trying to the best of our ability to love our kids, keep them fed, and also as clean as possible.

She added that despite our best efforts, more often than not, kids grow to complain about their parents to their therapist.

Sharing a video of herself from the Biennale, where she was seen trying to change a diaper, Twinkle posted on her official Instagram handle, "At the Biennale, while there was a deeper layer to this exhibition, it also struck me that all babies should come with a QR code like this that takes us straight to an instruction manual. (sic)"

"Right now, we are simply making it up as we go along. We do our best, love them fiercely, keep them fed and reasonably clean, and then they grow up, go to therapy, and blame us anyway. If your child came with an instruction manual, what’s the first page you’d turn to?," she went on to add.

Twinkle is someone known to speak her mind, whether on social media or during any of her public appearances.

Earlier this month, she advised all to travel light this year and get rid of excess baggage.

She wrote on the photo-sharing app, “We all carry baggage, and like airline counters, the heavier the bags, the greater the penalty. We may never get rid of it all, but with enough practice and perhaps even the right therapist, we can learn to downsize our baggage so it’s small enough to stow in the overhead compartment”.

Shubhangi told IANS, “When you give your 100%, when you play a character with utmost dedication that forces the audience to connect with you, things start happening on their own. For me, it started with people calling out my character’s name. That's how it starts for everyone.”

“However, when they have built a deeper connection with you, they like to know you personally. That's when today’s social media pages come into play, and people get to know your name and the real you. ‘Raakh’ starring Sonali Bendre trailer sets the stage for gripping thriller inspired by Ranga-Billa, set in 1970s India

Mumbai, June 10 (IANS) The trailer of the upcoming streaming series ‘Raakh’ was unveiled on Wednesday, and it promises a gripping fictional investigative thriller set in the late 1970s.

It traces a crime that sends shockwaves across the nation, and leads to a nationwide manhunt that explores the collision between crime and justice. The series seems to be heavily inspired by the Ranga-Billa case of kidnapping and extortion of siblings.

The trailer opens with a close-up of a pair of eyes and a maniacal laugh that sets the tone for what follows. It is packed with fast-paced and intense visuals, and pulls viewers into the world of Babu (played by Akash Makhija) and Rajjo (played by Ramandeep Yadav). Through sharp flashes of the crimes they’ve committed, the trailer gives us a glimpse into their troubled pasts, peeling back the layers of their twisted minds, revealing the forces that shaped them.

Talking about the series, creators, writers, and co-directors Anusha Nandakumar and Sandeep Saket said, “At the end of the day, what stays with you from great crime stories is rarely just the crime or the investigation. You remember the deeply human emotions. With Raakh, we wanted audiences to explore emotional spaces they wouldn’t expect from a crime thriller, because crime is not the only thing that happens in a crime story, it’s also about everything else it leaves in its wake. From the very beginning, we weren't interested in building a world that revolved solely around the mystery”.

The series stars Sonali Bendre, Ali Fazal, and Aamir Bashir in lead roles, along with Akash Makhija, Ramandeep Yadav, Divya Sharma, Vivaan Sharma, Anshul Chauhan, Rakesh Bedi, and Dibyendu Bhattacharya in pivotal roles.

“We wanted to create a holistic emotional landscape around it, one that explored grief, guilt, love, anger, and the ways in which a single act can ripple through the lives of everyone it touches. For us, the most compelling question wasn't just 'Who did it?', but 'What does this do to the people left behind?'”, they added.

The series is directed and executive produced by Prosit Roy, and created, written and co-directed by Anusha Nandakumar and Sandeep Saket along with dialogues by Ayush Trivedi.

The series is set to premiere on Prime Video on June 12.

Anu Aggarwal on women in cinema: Are we seeing a female character as object of visual consumption?

Mumbai, June 10 (IANS) Amid the heated chatter about Janhvi Kapoor’s sexualised character in “Peddi”, veteran actress Anu Aggarwal has talked about the portrayal of women in films, questioning whether female characters are treated as complete human beings with their own voices, choices and journeys, or merely reduced to objects of visual consumption.

Anu wrote on Instagram: “When we talk about the objectification of women in cinema, what are we really talking about? For me, the question is simple. Are we seeing a female character as a complete human being? Or are we seeing her primarily as an object of visual consumption? Does she have a voice?”

She added: “Does she have a personality? Does she make choices? Does she have a journey of her own? And perhaps the simplest question of all: If a particular scene were removed, would the story lose something essential?”

“Or was it there merely to draw attention to her body? Respect recognizes the whole person. Objectification reduces the character to something less. What do you think?”

Peddi is receiving backlash over the portrayal of the female lead, Janhvi Kapoor, with many accusing the makers of objectifying her. However, later the film’s director Buchi Babu Sana responded to the ongoing controversy and said they will make changes to the relevant portion based on feedback.

Talking about Anu, after her debut in 1990, Anu appeared in a string of Hindi films, including Ghazab Tamasha, King Uncle, Khal-Naaikaa, The Cloud Door, Janam Kundli, and Ram Shastra.

Her last release was Return of Jewel Thief, which was released in 1996. Directed by Ashok Tyagi, the film was a sequel to the 1967 film Jewel Thief, which starred Ashok Kumar and Dev Anand, who reprise their roles in this film. The film's cast also includes Dharmendra, Jackie Shroff, Shilpa Shirodkar, and Madhoo.

The actress in 1999 was injured in a serious car accident. After which, she was in a coma for almost 29 days, which left her with no memory of her earlier life.
