Bengaluru: Bengaluru Northeast Division Deputy Commissioner of Police G.K. Mithun Kumar has directed officers to strengthen crime prevention, expedite pending investigations, improve cybercrime detection and enhance public safety.
The directions were issued during a crime review meeting attended by all Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) and Police Inspectors of the division, following instructions from the Bengaluru City Police Commissioner. The meeting reviewed crime prevention, investigation and disposal of cases, public safety and technology-driven policing.
Police officers were instructed to update apartment records and ask Apartment Welfare Associations to inform the jurisdictional police station about foreign nationals residing in their premises. The directions also included police verification of security guards, domestic workers and other staff, installation of CCTV cameras at entry and exit points, and maintenance of visitor records.
Officers were directed to form anti-drug committees in educational institutions and organise awareness programmes on the harmful effects of narcotics. They were also instructed to act on credible information about the illegal sale, transportation and use of drugs under the NDPS Act.

The progress of pending cases was reviewed, with priority given to property offences, identification of accused persons and recovery of stolen property. Officers were also asked to expedite investigations into crimes against women and children and cases registered under the Child Labour Act.
Police were instructed to monitor individuals with criminal antecedents, review the activities of rowdy-sheeters and seek bail cancellation wherever legally justified.
Officers were directed to accelerate cybercrime investigations and use platforms such as Cri-MAC, NATGRID and e-Sakshya effectively. They were also told to trace lost and stolen mobile phones through the CEIR portal and return recovered devices to their owners through due legal procedures.
The meeting further stressed enforcement of the COTPA Act, stronger beat policing and intensified night patrolling in sensitive areas, major roads and commercial complexes. Mithun Kumar instructed officers to implement the directions effectively to strengthen crime control and safeguard public safety.
