Hyderabad, Aug 28 (IANS) Telangana’s Minister for Forest, Environment and Endowment, Konda Surekha, who faces disciplinary action over her daughter’s outbursts against Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, tied him Rakhi on Friday on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. Apart from Surekha, Minister for Panchayat Raj, Rural Development, Women & Child Welfare, Danasari Seethakka, also tied Rakhi to the Chief Minister.
Amid the buzz that Surekha may be dropped from the Cabinet, she called on the Chief Minister at the latter’s Jubilee Hills residence and tied him a Rakhi.
Surekha’s daughter Sushmitha has recently made certain remarks against the Chief Minister at a programme at Parkal in Warangal district. She had accused the Chief Minister’s family of corruption.
In response to the notice by the Disciplinary Committee of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC), the minister had stated that she can’t be held accountable for the views expressed by her daughter. She asked the panel to take back the notice.
Taking strong view of the minister’s reply, the Disciplinary Committee has reportedly recommended strong action against her for the indiscipline.
Meanwhile, Minister for Panchayat Raj, Rural Development, Women & Child Welfare, Danasari Seethakka, also tied Rakhi to the Chief Minister.
Revanth Reddy treats Seethakka as her own sister and has publicly declared on several occasions their bond is stronger than blood relation.
State Women’s Commission Chairperson Gadwal Vijayalakshmi, members, chairpersons of various corporations, representatives of the Brahma Kumaris, Mahila Congress leaders, and students from the Government High School for Visually Impaired Girls in Malakpet also tied Rakhis to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.
Earlier, the Chief Minister extended heartfelt greetings to all sisters of the Telangana State on the occasion of the Rakhi Purnima.
The Chief Minister wished that everyone would celebrate the Rakhi festival, which symbolises a strong bond between brothers and sisters, with joy and happiness. The CM hoped that every household would be blessed with happiness, prosperity, and good health.
CM Revanth Reddy stated that the “People’s Government” is striving to achieve the goal of economically empowering women and transforming them into millionaires. A slew of welfare schemes and development programmes were already launched as part of the government’s ambitious resolve to promote one crore women as crorepatis, he said.
Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla also extended his warm greetings to the people on the joyous occasion of Raksha Bandhan.
The Governor said that Raksha Bandhan celebrates the sacred bond of love, affection, trust and togetherness between brothers and sisters as the Rakhi symbolises not only protection, but also mutual respect, care and unwavering support.
He wished that the festival would bring happiness, peace, prosperity and harmony to every family and strengthen the spirit of love and togetherness in society.
