Chandigarh, July 26 (IANS) Punjab Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Kewal Singh Dhillon said on Sunday that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government’s attempt to shield its two Ministers in the paper leak and examination cheating scandals “is clear evidence that it is patronising corruption and dishonesty”.
He said AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal, who once incited young people to protest during demonstrations in Delhi, has now chosen to remain completely silent on the paper leak and cheating scandals in Punjab.
Dhillon said that the Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigned by placing students’ future and moral accountability above his office.
He said that several historic and transformative reforms were introduced in the country’s education system during his tenure, and those contributions would always be remembered.
In contrast, Punjab’s Ministers are refusing to accept moral responsibility.
Referring to the Faridkot pharmacy examination cheating scandal, Dhillon said that the future of hundreds of students had been compromised.
He asserted that the Punjab government cannot escape accountability merely by taking action against those who facilitated cheating.
He demanded that both the state Health Minister Balbir Singh and the Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains immediately resign, accepting moral responsibility for the incident.
Citing the Group-B paper leak case in Bathinda, the State BJP Chief said that despite six months having passed the investigation has failed to reach any meaningful conclusion.
He alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party government is fully responsible for jeopardising the future of Punjab’s youth and pushing recruitment processes into controversy.
State BJP chief Dhillon also said that despite claiming to represent honest politics, the Aam Aadmi Party is in reality practising what he described as “extreme dishonesty”.
He alleged that incidents of corruption, paper leaks and recruitment scams have increased steadily under the AAP government and said that the youth of Punjab are now demanding accountability from the state government.
