Arunachal has made remarkable strides across key sectors: Guv

Itanagar, July 23 (IANS) Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen K.T. Parnaik (Retd) on Thursday said the state has witnessed remarkable progress across multiple sectors over the past decade, including infrastructure, education, healthcare, connectivity, tourism and rural development, laying a strong foundation for sustained and inclusive growth.

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Thursday called on the Governor at Lok Bhavan, Itanagar, and they held detailed discussions on the state’s developmental priorities, implementation of key projects, and measures to address challenges arising from natural disasters and climate‑related events.

Lt Gen Parnaik congratulated Khandu and “Team Arunachal Pradesh” on completing ten years of dedicated public service and leadership. He noted that the government’s people‑centric approach has helped bring governance closer to citizens, particularly those living in remote and border areas.

Appreciating flagship initiatives such as Seva Aapke Dwar, the Governor said the programme has transformed public service delivery by ensuring that government services reach the doorsteps of the people. He remarked that such initiatives have strengthened public trust and reinforced the spirit of inclusive development.

The Governor also commended the state government’s efforts in advancing e‑governance and digital service delivery. Emphasising the importance of technology‑driven administration, he advocated greater use of geospatial applications, satellite imagery and data analytics for planning, monitoring and evaluation of developmental projects.

Lt Gen Parnaik said these tools can significantly enhance decision‑making, improve disaster preparedness, optimise resource utilisation and ensure timely implementation of welfare and infrastructure programmes for the benefit of the people of Arunachal Pradesh.

Meanwhile, in a separate event, the Governor on Thursday handed over a cheque of Rs 2 lakh to Abotani Vidya Niketan at Pachin Colony in Naharlagun to support the strengthening and expansion of the school’s library. The financial assistance was received at Lok Bhavan by the school’s Vice Principal Yanya Karlo and Arunachal Shiksha Vikas Samiti (ASVS) State Coordinator Sukumaran K.

The Governor had announced the financial aid during his visit to the school on 28 June to help enrich the library with books and promote reading among students. Highlighting the transformative power of books, Lt Gen Parnaik said reading nurtures curiosity, critical thinking, creativity and lifelong learning.

He said a well‑equipped library serves as a gateway to knowledge, broadens students’ horizons and inspires them to realise their aspirations. Expressing concern over the growing influence of digital distractions, the Governor stressed the importance of cultivating a reading culture among young learners.

He encouraged students to make reading a regular habit, describing books as lifelong companions that build character, strengthen values and open doors to new ideas and opportunities. The Governor also commended the Arunachal Shiksha Vikas Samiti for its efforts in promoting quality education through Abotani Vidya Niketan and appreciated the institution’s commitment to academic excellence and character building.
