Jaipur, June 2 (IANS) A BJP leader and former Mandal President of the party’s Scheduled Caste Morcha, Ramavatar Aswal, was found dead in suspicious circumstances, with his family alleging that he was murdered.
He was found lying in a pool of blood inside his scrap warehouse on Monday night in the Manoharpur area of Jaipur district. His family members alleged that his throat was slit.
The Manoharpur police, assisted by an FSL (Forensic Science Laboratory) team, collected evidence from the crime scene. The body has been kept in the mortuary at NIMS Hospital for post-mortem examination as the probe is underway.
Meanwhile, family members and villagers reached the Manoharpur police station on Tuesday morning and staged a sit-in protest, demanding the immediate arrest of the accused.

SHO Surendra Singh of Manoharpur police station said that the deceased has been identified as Ramavatar Aswal alias Pappu (55), a resident of Manoharpur town. He owned a scrap warehouse located near the Manoharpur bus stand and was present there on Monday night. Preliminary investigation suggests that a man visited the warehouse on Monday night and allegedly slit Ramavatar’s throat with a sharp-edged weapon before fleeing the scene.
When Ramavatar did not return home for a long time, his family members became worried and went to the warehouse in search of him. There, they found him lying in a blood-soaked condition. He was immediately rushed to NIMS Hospital while the police were informed.
However, doctors declared him dead upon examination. Around 12:30 a.m., Manoharpur police called an FSL team to the crime scene to collect forensic evidence. News of the murder spread quickly, drawing villagers and acquaintances to the spot.
Police cordoned off the warehouse and surrounding area and began examining CCTV footage as part of the investigation. Police personnel have also been deployed outside the warehouse while efforts are underway to identify and arrest the accused.
