PM Modi likely to visit Gujarat on Sep 8; preparations underway in Vadodara, Navsari

Vadodara, Aug 29 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to visit Gujarat on September 8, with preparations underway in both Vadodara and Navsari for programmes expected to include inaugurations of infrastructure and other projects.

In Vadodara, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi reached the city ahead of the proposed visit and inspected arrangements at Maharaja Sayajirao University, where PM Modi is likely to attend a programme at the university pavilion.

A roadshow is also being considered, followed by a public meeting, according to the preliminary programme details.

PM Modi is also expected to inaugurate Sardardham-3 in Vadodara and various infrastructure, railway and industrial projects linked to the city and state.

The preparations come as senior state and central leaders have been reviewing arrangements for the Prime Minister’s visit.

Separately, Union Jal Shakti Minister C R Patil held a review meeting with officials, elected representatives and organisational leaders regarding his proposed Navsari visit.

“Security arrangements, cleanliness, the venue, parking and other requirements were reviewed in detail. Necessary instructions and guidance had been given to ensure the programme is conducted smoothly and in an orderly manner,” Patil said on X.

State Finance Minister Kanu Desai, Tribal Development Naresh Patel, MLAs, organisational office-bearers and senior administrative and police officials attended the meeting.

In a post a day earlier, Patil said he had inspected the programme venue in Navsari and reviewed preparations and other arrangements.

A meeting was held in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi with local public representatives, organisational office-bearers and administrative officials to discuss the arrangements for the programme.

Recent reports have said PM Modi is expected to inaugurate the Navsari district BJP’s new ‘Namo Kamalam’ office during his visit.

The facility, near Kabilpore along the National Highway, has been built at a reported cost of more than Rs 10 crore and covers around 40,000 square feet.

The final schedule and details of the Vadodara and Navsari programmes, including the proposed roadshow, are yet to be made official.
