Mumbai, June 25 (IANS) Celebrity chef and ‘MasterChef India’ winner Pankaj Bhadouria has shared a fresh health update with her followers over her cancer battle.
She revealed that she will now have to undergo 12 sessions of chemotherapy and one year of targeted therapy after detailed post-surgery biopsies detected an invasive HER2-positive component.
In a video shared on social media, Pankaj said that she had undergone breast cancer surgery on May 29 and that the procedure was successful. She added that doctors had initially told her she would be able to resume work after four weeks of rest.
However, now detailed biopsy reports have now altered the course of her treatment. “I wanted to say something to you. Straight to the point. As most of you know, last month, 29th May, I had gone for a breast cancer surgery, which with God’s grace was very successful. And the doctors told me, ‘Pankaj ji, just 4 weeks of rest and you’ll be rolling again.’ The love I got during this time, I can never thank you enough for that. But now, it seems, I’m back to square one. And I’ll have to start all over again,” she said.
Explaining the reason behind the next stage of treatment, Pankaj shared, “In post-surgery detailed biopsies, there is an invasive component of 2 mm, which is HER2 positive. As a result, I have to go for 12 sessions of chemotherapy now, and one year of targeted therapy.”
Admitting that the word chemotherapy has left her “a little scared,” Pankaj said she plans to face this phase one day at a time.
“I am going to take this just like I tackle all my other problems. One day at a time. One dish at a time. The kitchen is not closed yet, my friends. There are many recipes and tips left,” she added.
For the uninitiated, on May 28, Pankaj had revealed that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer. Sharing a picture from a hospital bed, she had written, “I have been diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Need your prayers and support.”
The text on the accompanying video had read, “Going for tests and more tests…..not a happy place to be.” In another video, she had personally informed her followers about the diagnosis, saying she needed their prayers and support during the difficult time.
For the uninitiated, Pankaj Bhadouria rose to fame after winning the first season of ‘MasterChef India’ in 2010, becoming the country’s first-ever MasterChef winner.
Before entering the culinary world, she worked as an English teacher and reportedly left her 16-year-long teaching career to participate in the cooking reality show.
