Ahmedabad, Sep 17 (IANS) Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Thursday participated in religious and public programmes in Ahmedabad to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday and 25 years of his public service, as the state began its ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’.
HM Shah and Patel participated in the Maha Aarti at the renowned Shri Jagannath Temple in Ahmedabad and sought the blessings of Lord Jagannath.
On the occasion of PM Modi’s birthday, the two leaders prayed for his good health and long life.
The ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ began across Gujarat on Thursday, with various events and public welfare programmes being organised to mark the occasion.
At the Jagannath Temple, prayers were also offered for the well-being of citizens of the state.
The Maha Aarti was attended by Minister of State for Urban Development, Darshana Vaghela; Ahmedabad East MP Hasmukh Patel; Mayor Hitesh Barot; MLAs Dineshsinh Kushwaha, Kanchan Radadiya, Hasmukh Patel and Kaushik Jain; BJP Ahmedabad City President Prerak Shah and Mahant Dilipdasji of the Jagannath Temple, besides a large number of devotees and party workers.
Later, HM Shah and Patel participated in the ‘Ek Deepak Aashirwad No’ programme at the Kankaria Lakefront, where they performed Aarti of Maa Bharati as part of the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ celebrations.
The Kankaria Lakefront was illuminated with around 1.25 lakh diyas for the programme, with a large number of citizens joining the celebrations.
People held diyas and participated in the Aarti of Maa Bharati at the lakefront.
The Kankaria event was attended by Minister of State, Darshana Vaghela, Ahmedabad Mayor Hitesh Barot, local MLAs, Ahmedabad City BJP President Prerak Shah, former MPs Harin Pathak and Dr Kirit Solanki, Deputy Mayor Anju Shah, Standing Committee Chairman Kamlesh Patel, Municipal Commissioner Banchhanidhi Pani, Ahmedabad Collector Bhavya Verma, corporators, municipal officials and other office-bearers.
The programmes formed part of events being held across Gujarat on Thursday to mark PM Modi’s birthday and his 25 years of public service.
