Gujarat Dy CM hands over jobs to 526 women, launches Rs 482 crore projects in Bharuch

Bharuch, Aug 17 (IANS) A police-led employment initiative in Bharuch has helped around 526 women secure jobs in local industries, as Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi on Monday inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for development projects worth Rs 482 crore in and around Ankleshwar GIDC.

Under ‘Project Asmita’, an initiative of the Bharuch Police aimed at promoting women’s safety, dignity and financial independence, appointment letters were handed over to the women in the presence of Sanghavi and Minister of State for Water Supply, Ishwarsinh Patel.

Thirteen companies supported the recruitment drive. According to the government, more than 500 local women have secured employment through the initiative.

Women with general and higher educational qualifications are being offered starting salaries of more than Rs 17,000, providing employment opportunities intended to strengthen household incomes.

Sanghavi said the Bharuch Police is working beyond its conventional security responsibilities to support residents’ economic and social upliftment.

“Bharuch Police is not only ensuring security but also playing an important role in the economic and social upliftment of the people,” he said.

The event also highlighted the police’s efforts to recover stolen property and return it to its owners.

A theft case involving property worth more than Rs 3.16 crore at G.F.L. Company in the Dahej Police Station area was solved within hours, according to the government.

Under the ‘Tera Tujhko Arpan’ programme, the recovered valuables were returned to their rightful owner through a cheque.

Certificates were also presented to the Bharuch Police in recognition of its work under the programme.

Sanghavi said the state’s administrative system was moving forward by balancing traditions, values and development. “The government and police administration are working together to address challenges while improving public convenience and security,” he said.

He cited measures including traffic management, maintaining law and order during festivals and action against anti-social elements.

The police have also taken action against illegal moneylenders and helped citizens recover money, while working to recover stolen property and return it to owners without unnecessary delays.

The Rs 482 crore package covers infrastructure and industrial facilities in Ankleshwar and neighbouring industrial estates.

A ‘Transport Nagar’ has been developed with parking capacity for more than 510 trucks to ease traffic congestion.

A 3,000-square-metre warehouse and around 144 new industrial sheds have also been established to support MSME units.

A 40 million-litre-per-day water supply scheme has been completed at the Bulk Drug Park in Jambusar. At the same time, around 1,895 streetlights have been installed across industrial estates to improve security and infrastructure.

“Bharuch and Gujarat had an important role in India’s manufacturing sector as the country works towards the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047,” he said.

Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s emphasis on manufacturing, he stressed the need for industries to produce world-class, “Zero Defect” products.

He described Bharuch as the “heart of Gujarat” and pointed to its connectivity through the high-speed rail project, Dedicated Freight Corridor and ports.

He also said Gujarat is at the forefront of green hydrogen and renewable energy. He urged industrialists to use incentives available under the state’s new industrial and innovation policies for research and development and patent registration.

“The coming era belongs to India, and Gujarat’s administration is working as a team to advance the state’s growth and development,” Sanghavi said, extending his wishes to industrialists and others to achieve new milestones in the sector.
