According to officials, two of the accused sustained gunshot injuries during the encounter and were subsequently taken to a hospital for medical treatment. Police also recovered equipment allegedly intended to be used for slaughtering from the arrested individuals.

The Bithri Chainpur Police arrested the four accused during a raid conducted while they were preparing to carry out illegal cattle slaughter, officials said.

The action followed a tip-off received by the police on Monday. Acting on the information, a team from the Bithri Chainpur police station carried out a raid near the Persona Canal, where the accused were allegedly found preparing for the illegal activity.

The four individuals arrested at the scene have been identified as Junaid, a resident of Qutub Shah ki Ziarat in the Baradari area; Rashid, a resident of Jagatpur Gotiya in Baradari; Naseem, a resident of Persona under Bithri Chainpur police station; and Mohammad Fajar, also a resident of Persona in the Bithri Chainpur area.

During the arrest operation, a police encounter broke out, officials said. Naseem and Rashid sustained gunshot wounds to their legs during the encounter and were immediately shifted to a hospital for treatment. Their medical condition is being monitored, officials said.

Police investigators said that another accused, identified as Mohammad Qasim Qureshi, son of Raees and a resident of Mohalla Court under Baradari police station in Bareilly district, managed to escape from the location during the operation.

During questioning, the arrested individuals allegedly told investigators that the bovine animal had been provided by Shakir Khan, a resident of Persona, officials said.
