Bhopal, April 24 (IANS) Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced on Friday that Madhya Pradesh farmers will get enough power during the day hours and has secured approval from the central government to raise its wheat procurement target from 78 lakh metric tonnes to 100 lakh metric tonnes this season, describing the move as a tribute to the hard work of farmers.
He emphasised that slot bookings for selling wheat at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) have now been fully opened for all farmers, both small and large-scale, with procurement centres operating six days a week, including Saturdays. The deadline for slot bookings has also been extended from April 30 to May 9.
In an address on a social media platform to the people of the state, particularly the farming community, the Chief Minister underlined his government’s commitment to ensuring prosperity for farmers, declaring that “true promises and concrete action” form the foundation of his administration. He said that the vision of a “Developed Madhya Pradesh by 2047” rests on the strength of its farmers, whom he described as the state’s greatest asset.
CM Yadav highlighted ongoing efforts to provide daytime electricity for irrigation and noted that under the Krishak Mitra Yojana, solar pumps are being distributed with a 90 per cent subsidy to make farmers self-reliant in energy. He also pointed to rapid progress in milk production, with 1,752 new milk cooperatives established and payments exceeding Rs 1,600 crore already disbursed to producers.
He reiterated his ambition to transform Madhya Pradesh into the “Milk Capital of India.” Announcing a major decision on land acquisition, the Chief Minister said farmers will now receive compensation up to four times the value of their land, ensuring their rights are safeguarded.
He also unveiled new measures to promote pulse and oilseed crops, including procurement of urad (black gram) at MSP along with a bonus of Rs 600 per quintal. Farmers, he added, are already benefiting from better mustard prices under the Bhavantar scheme.
CM Yadav asserted that Madhya Pradesh is witnessing rapid development under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and stressed that farmers remain the strongest link in this chain of progress.
He assured that the government will continue to stand firmly with the “Annadatas” and strengthen the bond of trust built over the past two years.
