After brutally killing friend, Hyderabad man took girlfriend to show body: Police

Hyderabad, March 6 (IANS) The youth who killed his friend in a most brutal fashion by beheading him, ripping out his heart, and chopping off private parts over a girl, had taken her to the crime scene to show the victim's body, revealed Telangana Police on Monday.

Abdullapurmet police under Rachakonda commissionerate revealed more shocking details of the macabre killing following the questioning of accused P. Hari Krishna. The police also included his girlfriend as the third accused in the case and arrested her.

Hassan, who has already been arrested in the case, is named number two accused in the case

Hari Krishna had killed his friend N. Naveen, 21, an engineering student, at Pedda Amberpet on the outskirts of Hyderabad on February 17 but it came to light a week later when the accused surrendered before police.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, LB Nagar, B. Sai Sri told media persons that after killing Naveen, Hari Krishna severed his head, ripped out his heart, fingers and private parts. He kept the organs in a bag and took it to the house of his friend Hassan at Brahmanapally village on a two-wheeler. He, along with Hassan, later dumped the organs near Manneguda and returned to Hassan's house, changed the clothes and spent the night there.

The next morning, Hari Krishna went to the girl's house at B.N. Reddy Nagar colony. He told her about Naveen's murder, took Rs 1,500 from her for his expenses and left. Subsequently, they remained in contact over the phone.

On February 20, Hari Krishna went to the girl's house and took her out on a two-wheeler. He took the girl to the place where he had killed Naveen and showed her the body from a distance.

When Naveen's family members called Hari Krishna on February 21 to check about Naveen's whereabouts, he panicked. Fearing that his crime may get exposed, he left for Khammam. Later, he went to Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam and went to Warangal to meet his father on February 23. His father informed him that police are on the lookout for him and suggested that he surrender.

On February 24, Hari Krishna came to Hyderabad and went to Hassan's house. They went to the place in Manneguda where they had thrown body parts of Naveen. They brought the body parts to the place where he had killed Naveen and set them on fire.

Hari Krishna then went to his girlfriend's house and took a bath. From here he went straight to Abdullapurmet police station and surrendered.

Imran jumped into his neighbour’s house to evade arrest

Islamabad, March 6 (IANS) Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan jumped his residence's wall and escaped to his neighbour's home to evade arrest, Pakistan Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah claimed on Monday, a day after the former Prime Minister's hide-and-seek drama.

The minister, in a press conference in Islamabad, said: "Yesterday, the team that went to arrest Khan faced a lot of drama. There are rumours that he [Khan] jumped into his neighbours' house [to hide]. After a while, he surfaced from somewhere and delivered a huge speech," The News reported.

Sanaullah's comments came after an Islamabad police team came to Lahore for arresting the PTI chief — but without the court summons. The law enforcers returned without an arrest as the party told them that he "wasn't home", The News reported.

On February 28, Additional Sessions Judge Zafar Iqbal issued the former prime minister's non-bailable arrest warrant for continuously failing to appear before the court in the Toshakhana case.

The minister admitted that if the police wanted to arrest the former prime minister, this wasn't an appropriate strategy. "The police went there to inform him about the court's orders. But he is a shameless person."

Sanaullah added that when the authorities want to arrest and present him before the court, they will do so without hesitation. The interior minister added that Khan misused his authority when it came to Toshakhana gifts, The News reported.

The minister said that the deposed prime minister — who was ousted from power in April last year and has since been protesting against the government — will have to answer before the court.

Corruption accused Karnataka BJP MLA moves plea for bail, quashing of FIR

Bengaluru, March 6 (IANS) Karnataka BJP MLA Madal Virupakhappa on Monday moved a bail petition in the High Court seeking relief from the arrest in connection with the Lokayukta case of corruption against him.

He also moved a petition to quash the FIR against him lodged by the Lokayukta.

Counsel for MLA requested the court to hear the matter urgently. Taking up the case, a bench headed by Justice K. Natarajan has posted it for hearing on Tuesday.

If the court rejects the plea, the arrest of BJP MLA Virupakshappa will become imminent and the ruling BJP, which is already severely embarrassed with the development, is concerned about the consequences if he is arrested.

Meanwhile, party veteran and former Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa said on Monday in Jewargi of Kalaburagi district that it is a crime to practice corruption and legal action would be initiated against Virupakshappa.

"Our party has not made any effort to hush up the case. There is no question of protecting those involved in corrupt practices. The MLA might be arrested by today or tomorrow," Yediyurappa stated.

Virupakshappa is named as the prime accused in the Lokayukta case after his son, Prashanth Madal, a government official was caught red-handed while accepting Rs 40 lakh bribe. The bribe was allegedly received towards procurement of tender for supplying raw materials to the Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Ltd (KSDL), a public sector company which manufactures the famous 'Mysore Sandal Soap'.

Virupakshappa was the Chairman of KSDL but resigned from the post following his son's arrest.

The authorities had seized Rs 8.12 crore and 1.6 kg of gold from the office and residences of Virupakshappa and his son.

The Congress has given a bandh call over the issue and attacked ruling BJP in every forum. Leader of Opposition Siddaramaiah and state chief D.K. Shivakumar has stated that the trap case has provided clinching evidence to their allegations of 40 per cent commission in tenders and rampant corruption practiced by the ruling BJP government.

The ruling BJP, on the other hand, tried to defend itself by maintaining that it is under their government that the Lokayukta started functioning and Congress had closed it to cover up its scandals.

With Assembly elections nearing, the party leaders, however, admit that if a BJP MLA is arrested over corruption charges and in connection with receiving bribe towards allotment of tenders, it is going to become a strong weapon in the hands of opposition parties.

No threat to guest workers in state, says TN Police official

Chennai, March 6 (IANS) Tiruchirappalli's Superintendent of Police Sujit Kumar, who hails from Bihar himself, on Monday said that there was no threat to workers from other states in Tiruchi and other parts of Tamil Nadu.

He said that there are 2,784 guest workers in Tiruchi which include 406 women and said that most of them are working in the area since the past 10 years.

Condemning the fake videos that were circulating about alleged attacks on the migrant workers from north India, Sujit Kumar, while talking to reporters here, said: "Such incidents did not happen in Tiruchi or elsewhere in Tamil Nadu. Senior police officers have interacted with migrant workers and no one has complained of any threat to them."

He, however, said that north Indian migrant workers have left for their home states as Holi is on March 8 and not because of any threat.

The SP said that the employers of Tamil Nadu were looking after their workers well and have been providing accommodation and food for the guest workers near their workplace.

Noting that there are students from north India at the prestigious National Institute of Technology, Trichy and the Tamil Nadu National Law University (TNNLU), he said that he has not received any complaints of harassment from students in these institutions. He also said that the district police have issued a helpline number and some calls had landed in that number but none was for help regarding any harassment of north Indian workers.

Teachers’ scam: Judicial custody of Manik Bhattacharya’s wife and son extended

Kolkata, March 6 (IANS) A special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court on Monday extended the judicial custody of the wife and son of Trinamool Congress legislator and West Bengal Board of Primary Education's (WBBPE) former President Manik Bhattacharya in connection with the multi-crore teachers' recruitment scam.

Incidentally, neither did Bhattacharya's wife Satarupa Bhattacharya nor son Souvik Bhattacharya moved any bail plea at the special court on Monday, though both have earlier moved the Calcutta High Court challenging Enforcement Directorate (ED)'s move to name them in the supplementary charge sheet in the scam.

Bhattacharya's wife and son were arrested by ED in the matter on February 22. After they surrendered at the court on that day, the ED sleuths arrested them at the court premises. They were sent to the Presidency Correctional Home in south Kolkata, where Manik Bhattacharya is also in judicial custody.

ED's counsel had constantly claimed in the court that Manik Bhattacharya's wife and son were not aware of the Trinamool leaders' involvement in the scam but also knowingly participated in the swindling process. On this matter, counsel also referred to a joint account held by Satarupa Bhattacharya with a deceased person and said the investigation official doubts that this account might have been used for diversion of scam proceeds. The central agency also informed the court that the said joint account was kept alive using the KYC documents of the deceased person, even after years of his death.

Meanwhile, on Monday, the ED officials have once again summoned for questioning beauty salon owner Soma Chakraborty, to whose account a massive amount of Rs 50 lakh were transferred in phases from the accounts of arrested youth Trinamool Congress leader Kuntal Ghosh. She has been summoned to the agency's office at Salt Lake on March 10.
