
Patna, Aug 15 (IANS) A tragic road accident near Supanchak under Fatuha police station limits in Patna district of Bihar claimed the life of a government employee on Independence Day.
The deceased was identified as Pramod Kumar, son of Shatrughn Prasad Agarwal of Salimpur Ahra in Kadamkuan, Patna. He was working as an Accountant‑cum‑IT Assistant at the Athmalgola Block office.
According to preliminary information, Pramod Kumar had attended the 80th Independence Day flag‑hoisting ceremony at the Athmalgola Block office on Friday. After the programme concluded, he began his journey back to Patna on his motorcycle.
While travelling near Supanchak in Fatuha, an unidentified vehicle allegedly travelling at high speed came from the opposite direction and collided with his motorcycle. The impact threw Pramod onto the road, leaving him seriously injured.
The vehicle’s driver reportedly fled the scene immediately after the collision.
After receiving information about the accident, Fatuha police reached the spot and rushed the injured man to the Fatuha government hospital. However, doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Police took custody of the body and initiated the required legal proceedings.
The police are examining CCTV footage from nearby areas in an effort to identify the vehicle involved in the accident and trace its driver.
Pramod’s sudden death on a day when he had participated in the Independence Day celebrations has left his family, colleagues and local residents deeply shocked. The incident has cast a pall of mourning over his family, who had been expecting him to return home after the official ceremony.
In another road accident, a woman aged approximately 60 was killed on the spot after being struck violently by a speeding, unidentified four‑wheeler.
The accident near Brahma Sthan on the Gaya‑Nawada main route (NH‑82) on Saturday, August 15, cast a pall of gloom over the Independence Day celebrations. The driver fled the scene with the vehicle following the accident.
