Beheading incident: Tejashwi Yadav slams Nitish Kumar, says law and order completely collapsed

Patna, April 9 (IANS) Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav launched a sharp attack on the ruling alliance in Bihar, led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and the BJP, alleging a complete breakdown of law and order in the state.

Citing a brutal murder in Forbesganj under Araria district, Tejashwi Yadav described the current situation in Bihar as “Chopat Raj” (a state of total chaos).

“The government is busy with power politics and government formation, while the system in Bihar has completely collapsed. Patients are not getting treatment, medicines are unavailable, and even stretchers are missing in hospitals,” he said.

Expressing outrage over the incident in Forbesganj, Araria, Tejashwi said, “A person was beheaded in broad daylight, and the accused roamed freely holding the head of the victim. Where is the administration? Where is law and order?”

According to police, the incident occurred near the Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) area around 9 am on Thursday, where a disagreement broke out between a driver and a roadside Sattu vendor over parking.

The deceased driver has been identified as Nabi Hussain, and the accused shopkeeper, identified as Rahul Chauhan, allegedly attacked Hussain with a sharp-edged weapon during the altercation and beheaded him at the scene.

Following the attack, the accused fled the scene, prompting anger among local residents.

A crowd soon gathered and began searching for him.

He was eventually found hiding in nearby bushes, after which a mob allegedly assaulted him brutally.

Rahul Chauhan also died due to the severe beating, turning the incident into a case of mob lynching.

Tejashwi Yadav further alleged that Bihar is now among the top states in terms of crime rates under the NDA government.

The RJD leader also questioned the government’s performance on economic indicators, referring to reports by NITI Aayog.

“Bihar remains the poorest state, with the lowest per capita income, highest unemployment, and large-scale migration. From education to healthcare, the state is lagging behind in every sector,” he said.

Tejashwi Yadav also alleged a severe financial crunch in the state.

“Salaries and pensions are not being paid. Even ministers have not received their salaries. I have not received the salary. Contractors are awaiting payments. The entire system has collapsed,” he claimed.

He further accused those in power of being more focused on sand and liquor trade than governance, adding that the so-called double-engine government lacks both vision and a concrete development package for Bihar.
