Srinagar, Sep 10 (IANS) Properties of drug smugglers/peddlers, worth over Rs 6.22 crore, have been attached in Srinagar, police said on Thursday.
A police statement said that the measure came as Srinagar police intensified the crackdown on drug-linked properties.
“Continuing its sustained and resolute crackdown against drug trafficking and the financial networks of narcotics offenders, Srinagar Police has intensified action against properties acquired from the proceeds of illicit narcotics activities, attaching/freezing immovable assets worth over Rs 6.22 crore in six separate NDPS cases,” it said.
The latest actions, carried out by Police Stations Nigeen and Zakura along with earlier property attachment/freezing proceedings by Police Stations Shalteng, Ahmad Nagar, and Lal Bazar, reaffirm Srinagar police’s commitment to dismantling not only the operational networks of drug traffickers but also the financial infrastructure that sustains the illicit narcotics trade.
In the latest action, Police Station Nigeen attached an immovable property comprising a double-storeyed residential house along with land, valued at approximately Rs 1.10 crore, situated at Danihama, Hazratbal.
The property, belonging to Mubashir Ashiq Teeli, son of Ashiq Hussain Teeli and resident of Saderbal, Hazratbal, presently at Danihama, was attached under Section 68-F(1) of the NDPS Act, 1985, in connection with FIR No. 24/2026 under Sections 8/21 of the NDPS Act, registered at the police station.
Meanwhile, Police Station Zakura attached an immovable property comprising a residential house and land, valued at approximately Rs 1.14 crore, situated at Mulphaq Abu Baker Colony, Hazratbal. The property belongs to Zubair Ahmad Rather, son of Mohd Shaban Rather, resident of Lariyal, Tral, presently Abu Baker Colony, Mulphaq, and the action came in connection with FIR No. 44/2026 under Sections 8/20 NDPS Act, registered at the police station.
Earlier, Police Station Shalteng froze an immovable property valued at approximately Rs 1 crore, belonging to accused Mohd. Altaf Dar, son of Ghulam Ahmad Dar, resident of Dilawar Colony, Mujgund, during the investigation of FIR No. 76/2025 under Sections 8/20 NDPS Act.
The property comprises a single-storey residential house along with 11.5 marlas of land.
In another major action, Police Station Ahmad Nagar attached an immovable property valued at approximately Rs 2.2 crore, belonging to accused Owais Ahmad Mir, son of Ghulam Hassan Mir, resident of Baghaat Shoora, Srinagar, in connection with FIR No. 09/2025 under Sections 8/21/27-A/29 NDPS Act.
The property comprises a double-storey residential house, including a hall on the second floor, along with approximately 10 marlas of land at Baghaat Shoora.
Police Station Lal Bazar also attached a drug-linked immovable property comprising a double-storey residential house along with 3.5 marlas of land, having an estimated market value of more than Rs 35 lakh.
The property belongs to Waseem Ahmad Langoo, son of Farooq Ahmad Langoo, resident of Sheikh Colony, Lal Bazar, in connection with FIR No. 52/2023 under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act.
During the investigation of FIR No. 87/2025 under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act, registered at Police Station Shalteng, immovable property belonging to accused Riyaz Ahmad Bhat, son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, resident of Panzinara, Srinagar, and comprising a single-storey residential house along with 6 marlas of land, valued at approximately Rs 43 lakh, was attached.
