Noida Sector 79 residents protest against Sikka Group over water, power, other basic amenities

New Delhi, Aug 22 (IANS) Residents of Sikka Kimaantra Greens Society in Noida’s Sector 79 staged a protest on Saturday against Sikka Group and alleged that they have been deprived of basic amenities such as clean drinking water and reliable electricity since purchasing their flats.

The residents claimed that the lack of essential services has caused significant hardship and affected their quality of life.

Speaking to IANS, a resident said the water supplied in the society is excessively saline and unfit for consumption.

“The water is so salty that people fall sick after drinking it. We have started losing our hair because of the poor water quality. Electricity goes out 10 to 25 times a day and returns only after intervals of around 10 minutes,” the resident said.

According to residents, the problems have persisted for nearly three years since the society became operational, and the builder has failed to provide adequate arrangements for basic services such as electricity and water.

They alleged that despite repeated complaints, the developer has continued to give assurances that the issues would be resolved next month without taking concrete action.

Residents also complained about poor maintenance and sanitation conditions within the complex.

They said a fountain constructed in the society has become stagnant with accumulated water, creating unhygienic conditions and increasing the risk of mosquito-borne diseases such as dengue.

The residents alleged that several people have fallen ill and have had to seek medical treatment due to the prevailing conditions.

Another resident claimed that Sikka Builders had collected the full payment for the flats, along with additional charges but had failed to address the residents’ concerns.

According to the residents, around 250 people live in the society and all are facing difficulties due to the lack of basic amenities.

They said they have submitted multiple complaints and sought meetings with the builder’s representatives, but no satisfactory response has been received.

Frustrated by the continued inaction, the residents said they were left with no option but to hold a protest demanding immediate resolution of their grievances.
