Mumbai, Aug 22 (IANS) Actress Laura Dern celebrated her son Ellery’s 25th birthday with a heartfelt message, reminiscing about being in Paris when he turned one and sharing how blessed she feels to watch him grow into the person and artist he is today.
Dern took to Instagram, where she shared a handful of images of her son and wrote: “As I wake up in Paris to my son’s birthday, August 21, I remember being here in this city, with him turning ONE!!!! And now 25!!!”
“How profoundly blessed I am to know you Ellery. I am in awe of you as a son, a human, and an artist. It’s a miraculous life ride, getting to be with and love you with everything and forever.
Happy birthday! And thank you for your new song!”
The actress has been feted with numerous honours including an Academy Award, an Actor Award, a BAFTA Award, a Primetime Emmy Award, and five Golden Globes.
Born to actors Bruce Dern and Diane Ladd, the actress embarked on an acting career in the 1980s and rose to prominence for her performances in Peter Bogdanovich’s Mask, Joyce Chopra’s Smooth Talk, and David Lynch’s films Blue Velvet and Wild at Heart.
She achieved international recognition for her role as Ellie Sattler in Steven Spielberg’s adventure film Jurassic Park, a role she reprised in the sequels Jurassic Park III and Jurassic World Dominion.
Other lead film roles include Citizen Ruth, Lynch’s Inland Empire, Certain Women, and The Tale.
After winning two Golden Globes for her performance as Katherine Harris in the television film Recount. She had supporting roles in the films A Perfect World, October Sky, The Fault in Our Stars, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Little Women, and Marriage Story.
Dern was in a relationship with her Blue Velvet co-star Kyle MacLachlan from 1985 to 1989. She began dating Jeff Goldblum while filming Jurassic Park, and the relationship ended in 1997.
She also dated Billy Bob Thornton from 1997 to 1999. In autumn 2000, Dern began dating musician Ben Harper after they met at one of his concerts.
They got married in 2005, at their home in Los Angeles.They have two children together, son Ellery Walker and daughter Jaya.
