Valmiki Corporation scam: Congress high command involved, alleges C.T. Ravi

Bengaluru: BJP MLC C.T. Ravi has alleged that the Congress party and its high command have a role in the alleged Valmiki Development Corporation scam.

Speaking to reporters at Vidhana Soudha, Ravi said the government itself had admitted that ₹89.62 crore belonging to the corporation was transferred to various bank accounts. He said an FIR had been registered against 14 people, including the corporation’s then Managing Director, and that the SIT investigation had established that the funds were misused.

Ravi alleged that the money was used for the Telangana Assembly elections, the Kalaburagi election involving Mallikarjun Kharge’s son-in-law and the Bellary Lok Sabha election. He further claimed that funds were also diverted to a liquor outlet, jewellery shop and car showroom.

BJP demands minister’s dismissal

Ravi said the Opposition, under the leadership of Legislative Council Opposition Leader Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, was continuing its protest demanding the dismissal of former minister B. Nagendra in connection with the case.

Referring to the death of officer Chandrashekhar during the investigation, Ravi questioned why his family had allegedly not received provident fund benefits while a person facing allegations in the case continued to hold ministerial status.

He also alleged that similar irregularities could have occurred in other government schemes, including Gruha Lakshmi, and demanded a comprehensive investigation.
