Delhi BJP chief criticises Kejriwal for calling himself ‘mental Naxal’

New Delhi, Aug 17 (IANS) Delhi BJP President Harsh Malhotra on Monday criticised Aam Aadmi Party National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal for calling himself a “mental Naxal” while claiming to be a patriot who wants to change the system.

Malhotra said that there is no doubt that Arvind Kejriwal has a politically Naxal mindset. The proof of this is that in Delhi, where the BJP is in power, he comes forward in support of student protests. Still, in Punjab, where AAP is in power, and in Jharkhand, where an allied government is in power, he remains silent when students face police lathi-charges.

The Delhi BJP President said that Arvind Kejriwal’s claim that he wants to change the “rotten system” and make India corruption-free is a farce.

Malhotra said the people of Delhi and Punjab have seen how much systemic change Kejriwal and his governments have brought about in both states, or how much corruption they have prevented.

The Delhi BJP President said that the country knows that Kejriwal was a Naxal in his political ideology yesterday and remains a Naxal in his political thinking today. At the same time, corruption is deeply embedded in every aspect of his politics.

The country has not forgotten that in the very first year of his government in Delhi, Kejriwal disrupted the Republic Day arrangements on the then Rajpath, and a few years later staged a sit-in at the Lieutenant Governor’s residence, thereby exposing his anarchic and Naxal mindset.

In a separate development, Delhi BJP Secretary and former MLA Manoj Kumar accused AAP MLA Kuldeep Kumar of doing politics over the killing of sanitation worker Anil, who was employed with a private company.

He said it would be better if the AAP MLA stopped indulging in petty politics and instead cooperated with the Delhi Safai Commission’s efforts to provide appropriate compensation and a job to a family member of the deceased on compassionate grounds.

The Delhi BJP Secretary said Delhi Safai Commission Chairperson Sunita Kangra and the BJP’s Mayur Vihar district organisation have been in contact with the family of the deceased Anil to ensure the family receives appropriate relief.

The BJP leadership is in contact with senior police officials, and we are confident that the killer will be arrested soon, he said.
