Ranchi: A coach of a Shravana Mela special train derailed on the Silli-Bokaro railway section in Jharkhand early Sunday, triggering panic among passengers. However, no casualties or injuries were reported.
The third coach of the train, which was travelling towards Madhupur, derailed near pillar number 354/SA4 around 2.30am. The sudden jolt and loud noise left passengers alarmed.
Railway officials, along with RPF and GRP personnel, rushed to the spot after receiving information about the incident. A technical team began restoration work and safely placed the derailed coach back on the tracks.
As a precaution, the affected coach was detached from the train and moved to the Muri yard. All passengers were safely evacuated.
The derailment temporarily affected train movement in the section, with some trains being diverted. Railway personnel repaired the track, and restoration work was completed by 5.15am, following which train services resumed. The Railways has ordered an investigation into the incident.
