Ghaziabad, June 23 (IANS) Former Congress leader Acharya Pramod Krishnam on Tuesday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to sack all office-bearers of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Trust in connection with the alleged donation-related controversy.
Speaking to IANS, Acharya Pramod Krishnam said, “Questions have been raised regarding some office-bearers of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Trust, and concerns have been expressed against them. The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple is a centre of faith for us, and the issue has hurt the sentiments of millions of devotees. All office-bearers of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Trust should resign from their posts, fulfilling their moral responsibility, until justice is delivered. Justice is important, but it is even more important that justice be seen to be done.”
He further said, “The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Trust is a place where crores of people repose their faith. If allegations of theft or irregularities have surfaced there, then changes are necessary. Change is a natural process, and when an issue becomes this serious and is linked to the faith of the people, it demands immediate attention. I request Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to sack all officials associated with the trust.”
Reacting to the Bharat Tiwari encounter case in Bihar, Acharya Pramod Krishnam alleged that such incidents raise serious concerns about extrajudicial actions.
“Everyone knows that these are fake encounters. People are first arrested, restrained, and then shot. Extrajudicial killings should not be allowed anywhere. These are not encounters; they are killings. If a genuine encounter takes place while dealing with criminals, it should be appreciated. However, if someone who raises a voice in the interest of society is targeted or killed, it becomes a crime. The encounter of Bharat Tiwari is fake,” he added.
He further alleged that targeting Brahmin youths had become a concerning trend and called for serious reflection on the issue.
“What will people do except protest? Murder is murder. There is a need for comprehensive deliberation on such incidents,” he told IANS.
On Monday, a fresh Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was moved before the Supreme Court seeking registration of an FIR and a court-monitored investigation by a CBI-led Special Investigation Team (SIT) into allegations of financial irregularities, missing funds and mismanagement in the affairs of the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.
The petition, filed under Article 32 of the Constitution by advocates Ajay Kumar Rai and Dinesh Kumar Yadav, seeks a direction for a “fair, impartial, comprehensive and time-bound investigation” into allegations concerning donations and funds received for the construction and administration of the Ram Temple at Ayodhya.
According to the plea, allegations disclosed in media reports and other publicly available material prima facie indicate “serious instances of dishonest misappropriation, diversion, embezzlement and breach of trust” relating to public donations and funds entrusted for religious and charitable purposes.
